The sun is shining and we’re looking forward to lots of spring and Easter themed events across our clubs to keep the whole family entertained over the holidays.
We’ve also been rounding up a busy couple of months where, among other things, we’ve been raising money for Red Nose Day, celebrating the successes of our staff and customers and launching our exciting new Let’s Get Going campaign to further support the health and wellbeing of our local communities.

A huge congratulations to BPL’s Caron for receiving the ‘You’re So Good’ award!
Caron’s outstanding leadership in running the Fitness for All day every Tuesday has made a real impact, as she consistently goes above and beyond to create a fun, welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
Her dedication and enthusiasm truly makes a difference – well done Caron!

We’re proud to support Your Space Pontefract member Roger Castillo on his archery journey through our FANs scheme for talented athletes.
Roger was a first reserve at Paris 2024 and is pushing to be part of the LA2028 Olympic team.
We’re thrilled to play a small part in his journey and wish him every success in pursuit of Olympic glory.

Let’s Get Going – our new community-focused initiative to enhance the wellbeing of Barnsley and Bassetlaw residents – has launched online!
Let’s Get Going is for anyone who wants to lead a more active and fulfilling life, helping residents of all ages and abilities to find enjoyable ways to increase their activity levels and enhance their quality of life.
The new website www.letsgetgoing.com includes details of the many sports and activities taking place across our clubs, as well as information on where to get help and advice on a range of issues.

BPL’s Anne, Connor and Mark worked with Barnsley Hospital’s wellbeing team to deliver a successful wellness event for hospital staff.
BPL and partners took over the physiotherapy department to deliver a fun-filled day of activity and healthy lifestyle advice; giving employees a taste of what we offer at BPL.
As many of them work shifts, we took our services to them so they could have a go and hopefully find something they enjoy.
We engaged with over 250 hospital staff, with plans to now make this an annual event.
Back in February, we had the pleasure of running the Aqua Festival, as part of the School Games in Barnsley.
Children from various local schools came together for a day full of energy, competition and fun!
A big thank you to all the incredible teachers, staff and volunteers who make this event such a success – let’s keep fostering teamwork, sportsmanship and fun in our communities!

It was great to see collaboration across two of our sites when the catering team at Your Space Mansfield joined one of our chefs, Anthony, at the Metrodome recently.
During the visit, they enjoyed trying out some new menu ideas and experimenting with different prep and cooking techniques.

Big news for Bassetlaw!
Bassetlaw District Council has secured £3.2m to decarbonise Worksop and Retford Leisure Centres – the council’s largest carbon reduction project to date.
Improvements will include replacing outdated gas heating with heat pumps, alongside solar panels, LED lighting and other energy saving upgrades.
These improvements will cut 448 tonnes of CO2 per year, reducing emissions by 60 per cent per site and over 20 per cent of the council’s total carbon footprint.
A huge step towards Net Zero 2040!
