WE are delighted that our partnership work with Bassetlaw Clinical Commissioning Group has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.

We’ve been working together on a community health and wellbeing programme, which covers long term exercise referral and the use of BPL’s Your Space at Home digital exercise and wellbeing platform to give patients with a range of health conditions the guidance and support they need to lead healthier lives.

The initiative has been shortlisted in the Best Not For Profit Working In Partnership With The NHS category at the HSJ Partnership Awards 2022.

The awards celebrate and showcase collaborations and partnerships driving transformations and improving patient outcomes across the NHS.

Health and Wellbeing Manager at BPL Angela Dainty said: “BPL’s Community Health team work alongside Bassetlaw Clinical Commissioning Group to provide patients with a health and wellbeing journey in a safe, enjoyable environment.

“Our highly qualified coordinators work closely with the local cardiac rehabilitation team to guide patients from phase three rehabilitation within a hospital to phase four within the leisure centre; giving them the comfort of familiar faces throughout their journey.

“Patients on the Long-term Exercise Referral Scheme gain access to BPL’s sites in the local area including Your Space Bircotes, Retford and Worksop, where they can use the gym and swimming facilities, plus attend exercise classes, all with the help and guidance of an exercise referral coordinator.

“We are also a referral pathway for all local GP surgeries in the district with our long-term exercise programme.

“This gives patients with a range of health conditions access to a full pathway of guidance and support, helping them lead healthier lives.

“We’re delighted to have been shortlisted for the Best Not For Profit Working In Partnership With the NHS award, recognising the collaborative efforts and dedication of our staff to implement this project.

“As a not for profit leisure trust, we  are committed to supporting our local community and to be chosen among the other incredible nominees is a wonderful achievement.”

BPL Contracts Manager for Bassetlaw Glyn Davies added: “It is extremely rewarding to have been shortlisted for this prestigious award and to be recognised for our collaborative efforts to provide access to our range of wellbeing initiatives during these unprecedented times.

“Our strengthened partnership with the NHS will serve to provide our local communities with a more resilient and responsive service across the district and improve access to health and wellbeing initiatives through our collaborative and innovative approach.”

Head of Service Redesign and Service Transformation at Bassetlaw CCG Lesley Carver added: “We’re delighted that our partnership work with BPL has been shortlisted for this award.

“Focusing on a positive, ‘can do’ delivery approach to actively engage and remove barriers to access to services, BPL have embraced the realistic vision for a cross sector holistic approach to care.

“This has involved working with the CCG and bringing together all key local players, particularly the involvement of communities as equal partners, to participate in a response to Covid and its impact.

“BPL has developed coordinated and integrated services that fit together well; demonstrating the added value of joint working to patient care and patient pathways ranging across primary and community care.”

Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods at Bassetlaw District Council, Councillor Julie Leigh added: “Despite all of the difficulties of the past two years, staff at BPL and Bassetlaw CCG have worked hard to not only deliver their day jobs, but to meet and overcome all of the additional challenges that the Covid-19 pandemic has created.

“I know this partnership and the development of Your Space at Home has made a real, tangible difference to the lives of many people in Bassetlaw and I want to thank everyone involved for their professionalism and tenacity.”

Over 190 entries have been received for this year’s HSJ Partnership Awards, with 123 projects chosen by the judging panel to make it to the final shortlist.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony at Westminster Park Plaza in London on 24 March 2022.
